Martin Lewis’ MSE issues warning to anyone who’s a BT, O2, Sky, Three, Virgin or Vodafone customer

Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert has issued a warning to BT, Sky, Virgin Media customers. Mr Lewis’ team at MSE, which he founded, has warned over “mobile, phone, broadband and TV price hikes” coming in 2025.

The BBC and ITV star’s team explained millions of broadband, mobile and TV customers will see their bills increase this spring. BT, EE and Plusnet bills for broadband, landline, mobile and TV will rise by £1.50 a month for mobile Sim-only and Flex Pay airtime users from 31 March. Bills will rise £2 and £3 for TV and broadband users respectively, and £4 a month for bundled handset and airtime mobile users.

O2 customers will see their airtime bill increase by £1.80 a month from April, but their monthly device repayments will remain frozen at a fixed price. Mobile broadband and smart watch customers will see a price rise of 75p.

Sky Mobile users who are out of contract will see their bills rise by £1.50 a month from February 14, 2025. Virgin Media broadband, landline or TV packages will rise by £3.50 a month from April but this won’t apply to customers on Essential Broadband or Essential Broadband Plus packages, or Talk Protected phone-only plans.

Vodafone customers who joined or upgraded on or after July 2, 2024 will see their broadband bill rise by £3 a month from April, while mobile phone customers will see their prices rise by either £1 a month or £1.80 a month.

If you joined or upgraded on or before July 1, 2024, your bill will rise by 6.4%. TalkTalk bill rises for broadband and landline (most plans), Fixed Price Plus, out of contract and Fixed Price Plus and Pre-Pay Saver, in contract, as well as TV add ons, the “most vulnerable” customers and former Shell Energy customers remain to be confirmed.

An Ofcom spokesperson previously said: “Inflation might be low now, but as we’ve seen in recent years, it can be incredibly volatile, and we don’t think consumers should bear that risk. Our intervention means customers will have certainty and clarity upfront about the prices they will pay, so they can compare offers and select the best deal for them.”
