Police issue update as woman dies after being hit by cyclist wearing shirt and tie

Police have issued an update on their investigation into a collision between a pedestrian and a cyclist which saw a woman die in hospital from her injuries. Officers for South Wales Police are “trying to establish exactly what happened” in the incident, which took place on Moorland Road in Cardiff on Tuesday, December 10.

The force is appealing for the cyclist who was involved in the collision to come forward and make contact, adding it is understdood the man had been “extremely concerned” for the woman at the time of the incident. The cyclist is described as male, wearing a black face covering, white shirt, and red tie.

A statement from South Wales Police read: “We are continuing to appeal for the cyclist involved in the collision which happened on Moorland Road, Splott on Tuesday, December 10, to make contact. We are now able to confirm the bike involved in the incident was a push bike. We can also confirm the cyclist stopped at the time of the incident and returned to the location after the incident to enquire how the woman was doing, but his identify is still not known.

“The pedestrian involved in the collision – a 56-year-old women who was walking her dog at the time – was admitted to hospital but she died from her injuries on January 13. The cyclist is urged to contact police to assist officers who are investigating.”

Detective inspector Dan Todd said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the women who died earlier this month in hospital. We are continuing to investigate the incident and are trying to establish exactly what happened. We understand the cyclist involved was extremely concerned for the woman at the time of the incident and may not have had news of her death. We are urging that person to come forward.”
