‘Honest’ Stourbridge pub shuts for £290,000 reason as boss says ‘we’re incredibly excited’

A popular pub in the Black Country has closed while it undergoes a ‘major refurbishment’ to the tune of £290,000. The Glassworks pub in Stourbridge is being overhauled by Marston’s and will have an all new bar area when it reopens on Tuesday, February 6.

The pub, which is loved by locals and described as a ‘good, honest pub’ by reviewers on Google, closed on Monday, January 13 for work to begin. As well as the new bar, the Wordsley pub will have 4K big screen TVs to show Sky Sports and TNT and a new ‘family lounge’.

The food menu will be changed to include pub grub and pizzas while the children’s menu will have ‘little servings’ of pub classics a new ‘build-your-own’ option for under-5s.

General manager John Griffiths said: “We’re incredibly excited to announce the refurbishment of The Glassworks, to welcome our community; whatever the occasion.

“There will truly be something for everyone, whether it’s a quick drink at the bar, a place to watch this year’s biggest sporting events or for spending quality time over a family meal.”
