Call The Midwife’s Trixie Aylward fights to save Nonnatus House in first look

Call the Midwife has teased its upcoming Sunday episode, promising BBC audiences a glimpse of Trixie Aylward (Helen George) as she battles to protect Nonnatus House.

In a freshly released snippet, viewers will hardly recognise the fan-favourite as she ditches her nurse’s attire. Trixie is showcased donning an elegant blue midi skirt paired with a coordinating blazer.

Beneath it, she sports a light blue collared blouse, complementing the look with black heels and a tan briefcase. The preview shows Trixie in a grave discussion with Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter), who reveals that the Board of Health has launched an assault on Nonnatus House.

Sister Julienne is visibly shocked by the revelation, adding: “They do not like that the Order are, by definition, religious sisters.”

A different viewer commented: “The board will be shaking in their boots with Trixie on the warpath. If I remember well from previous series, she’s a force to be reckoned with.”

In the upcoming Sunday night episode, audiences will witness Trixie’s leadership qualities being challenged as she faces a meeting with Dr Threapwood.

In anticipation of the new season, the show’s creator Heidi Thomas teased that Trixie will play a pivotal role in the upcoming 14th season.

Speaking at a press event, she revealed: “Trixie continues to divide her time between her exciting new life in New York and life at Nonnatus House, and she becomes instrumental in a new management plan which results in the sustainment of life at Nonnatus House that gives her new management type of responsibilities.”

Call the Midwife airs on Sundays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
