Road and double-decker bus taped off by police and fire crews following incident

A road and a double decker bus was taped off by the emergency services on Wednesday afternoon (January 15) following an incident.

Police and fire crews attended the crash, between a car and the bus, on Compstall Road in the Romiley area of Stockport at around 4pm.

One witness reported that an elderly lady had crashed her car into the back of the bus. Fire crews taped off the area at the junction with Corcoran Drive.

The driver, aged 81, was transferred into the care of paramedics at the scene. Her injuries are not described as serious.

Greater Manchester Police are continuing to investigate the incident. The force has been contacted for further details.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 4pm today (Wednesday 15 January), two fire engines from Marple and Stalybridge fire stations were called to a crash involving a bus and a car on Compstall Road, Stockport.

“Crews arrived quickly and helped to make the area safe, with one woman being transferred into the care of North West Ambulance Service. Firefighters departed after roughly 40 minutes.”
