In Wednesday’s episode of Coronation Street, viewers spotted a familiar face in scenes with Lauren Bolton. A new character, Brie, played by Jessica Ellis, 37, has arrived to stir up more trouble for Lauren.
The pair, both housed in the mother and baby unit with their respective children, soon clashed, leaving fans anticipating further drama for the young mum.
Viewers were delighted when they recognised Brie as actress Jessica Ellis, best known for her role as Tegan Lomax on Hollyoaks. Jessica was a regular on the soap from 2013 to 2018, appearing in an impressive 398 episodes. She is no stranger to the world of soaps, having also featured in a few episodes of EastEnders in 2011, and one episode of Doctors the same year.

Brie isn’t the only new character linked to Lauren’s storyline that fans may recognise. Coronation Street has also enlisted EastEnders star Samuel James, known for his roles as Jimmie Broome on BBC One’s EastEnders and Garth Stubbs on Birds of a Feather, reports the Mirror.
The Sun reports that Samuel is set to join the Coronation Street cast as a solicitor named Steven Poyser, who will be at the forefront of a pivotal court case. An inside source told the publication: “Samuel will appear on screen for a number of episodes in a guest role as Lauren’s fate is finally revealed.”

Meanwhile, Max Turner’s character is about to make an exit from the ITV soap with Paddy Bever, who portrays him, deciding to leave. Having already shot his last scenes, viewers can expect Max’s departure will air early this spring.
It was all planned since March last year when show bosses were informed of Paddy Bever’s decision to leave, paving the way to shape his character’s dramatic exit storyline amidst the Platt family’s troubles. In a conversation with The Mirror, he commented: “After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities.”
“I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way. It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
