The Repair Shop fans were left reaching for tissues within moments of the latest episode airing.
The cherished restoration program returned to screens with another emotive installment, inviting individuals to bring their treasured items to the well-known Repair Shop for revival by its skilled craftspeople.
Neil Powell was first to step into the barn on Wednesday evening’s show (January 15), bringing in a jacket belonging to his heroic dog, Pepper, in hopes of seeing it restored.
The Border Collie, who became a search and rescue dog at only 18 months old, dedicated his life to saving others, including efforts during the Lockerbie bombing tragedy and finding a young boy lost for over a day and a half in harsh conditions.
However, the revelation of Pepper’s demise after being exposed to toxins left audiences in pieces. Taking to the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, one emotional fan exclaimed: “Already crying at #therepairshop.”

Another wrote sentimentally: “The border collie rescue jacket will have me sobbing by the end as I’ve had a few Border collies who looked like brave Pepper.”
A third added: “Pepper was a hero, No idea of the story about the search dogs.”, reports the Express. While another just posted: “What is is about dog collars,” alongside a tearful emoji.
Tragically, in 1988, following their noble work at the Lockerbie site, Pepper and his fellow canine rescuers developed tumours due to contamination exposure and subsequently passed away.

Neil said: “As a result of that, poor Pepper, he and six other dogs they all developed tumours in their nose and their wind pipes.”
“Not sure if it was the aviation fuel or what was it, but they died. Yeah, it was heartbreaking, “Neil explained. For Neil, it was vital that Pepper’s well-worn search and rescue jacket and collar were restored to preserve his memory.
Later on, viewers saw expert Suzie revive the leather collar, while Rebecca removed years of dirt from the jacket.
