‘Broke’ Birmingham City Council property auction with New Year sales

‘Broke’ Birmingham City Council are selling more assets at auction next month. Lots up for grabs include a former children’s centre, two three-bedroomed homes, land and commercial investments.

Auctioneers Bond Wolfe have listed seven sites from the cash-strapped local authority, which are set to go under the hammer. The former Merrishaw Children’s Centre, on Merrishaw Road, in Northfield, is one of the standouts.

The vacant freehold property comprises offices, classrooms and off road parking. It may be suitable for redevelopment, subject to obtaining the necessary planning consents, and has a guide price of £200,000 plus.

A vacant leasehold semi-detached property on Netherdale Road, in Hollywood, is also listed. The three-bed home has a guide price of £125,000. While another three-bed home – a vacant freehold semi detached property – is for sale on Chilcote Close in Hall Green. This property has a guide price of £175,000 plus.

There is also freehold interest secured on industrial land and premises at number 92 and 94 Cato Street in Nechells. Both are each listed at £20,000 plus. Land adjacent to, 79 Belchers Lane, Saltley, is listed at £100,000 plus, while a site fronting The Fordrough, in Northfield, has a guide price of £225,000. The auction is set to go ahead,from 8.30am, on Thursday, February 6.
