A woman has suffered serious injuries following a crash in Huyton this morning. At around 4.40am on Thursday, January 16, emergency services were called to the junction of Liverpool Road and Hillside Avenue to reports of a crash involving a Mazda and a female pedestrian.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and a large police cordon, closing Liverpool Road from Blue Bell Lane to the M57 in both directions, has been put in place as Merseyside Police continue investigation work.

Police have confirmed the car stopped at the scene. They are now appealing for information following the crash.

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson said: “As a matter of urgency, we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or was passing by at the time and may have captured anything on dashcam or other devices.

“Road closures will remain in place for a significant time as officers carry out the initial stages of this investigation. Motorists are advised to find an alternative route. Thank you for your patience.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Merseyside Police’s Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit on (0151) 777 5747, email SCIU@merseyside.police.uk, or DM @MerPolCC with reference 25000040121.
