Lorraine Kelly forced to intervene as Paul Whitehouse and wife have disagreement live on air

Lorraine Kelly found herself in the role of peacemaker as she intervened to cool tensions between Paul Whitehouse and his wife Mine during a live on-air disagreement about an “announcement” they were supposed to make.

The couple was on the ITV show to talk about their new podcast ‘I’m ADHD – No You’re Not!’ when things took an awkward turn, leaving the Scottish presenter at a loss for words.

The spat began when Mine subtly nudged her husband Paul to reveal their “announcement,” but he missed the cue. Tension rose as Mine grew visibly frustrated during their back-and-forth about who should say what.

“You told me I wasn’t allowed to say anything,” Mine exclaimed, urging Paul to disclose details about their upcoming tour, but he still didn’t catch on, reports the Daily Record.

Oblivious, the comedian proceeded to praise his wife for her inclusion in King Charles’ New Years Honours list for her contributions to early years education and a neuroscience-based understanding of brain development.

He started with “Oh the MBE…,” only to be cut off by Mine once more: “No, the thing you told me I wasn’t allowed to mention.” The couple continued to squabble on-air, trying to clarify the misunderstanding.

During a conversation that quickly became tense on Lorraine’s show, Mine let slip: “The tour,” just as host Lorraine excitedly chimed in with: “You’re both going on tour together, how wonderful.” In an attempt to steer clear of any more on-air friction, the presenter enquired: “Is this your first tour Mine?”

Mine confirmed that while they hadn’t hit the road for a tour together previously, they were revved up at the prospect of joining forces.

Earlier in the segment, Lorraine brought up Paul’s role in the BBC Two series Gone Fishing, which he co-hosts with his dear friend Bob Mortimer.

Paul, once part of the comedy duo ‘Harry Enfield and Chums,’ described their television escapades as something much greater than fishing itself. He viewed it as a reunion of friends indulging in a shared passion, all while grappling with and bringing attention to Bobs profound health ordeal.

Paul Whitehouse spoke about his friendship with Bob and podcast with wife Mine

Paul had originally devised the concept for Gone Fishing back in 2015 as a way to aid Bob in his recovery from major heart surgery, where it was found that a staggering 95 percent of his arteries were clogged.

Bob has endured numerous health struggles, including a protracted six-month fight with shingles which led to muscle loss and frequently restricted him to using a wheelchair.

In praise of his fellow angler and screen companion, Bob expressed his gratitude to the Mirror about Paul’s instrumental role in his healing. Bob recounted: “I wasn’t very well and it made it a but if a struggle but, as always, Paul looked after me and pulled me through.

“During part of the season, I could hardly walk so there were definitely tough moments. When we filmed by the River Trent, I was carried from my wheelchair to the riverbank. This isnt seen on-screen, nor do you see me standing up much either.”
