Emmerdale has hinted at a tragic twist with the potential death of a Dales legend.
Marlon Dingle, played by Mark Charnock, has been a mainstay on the soap since 1996. As the son of Albert Dingle (Bobby Knutt), the Woolpack chef has won over fans.
Over the years, Marlon has been involved in numerous major storylines – from an unexpected prison term to suffering a stroke, his time in the village has been anything but dull.
Currently, the drama is high as Marlon’s daughter April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) disappeared on Christmas Day. The teenager was last seen entering a strange car driven by an unknown person.

April’s disappearance followed a challenging few weeks in the Dales when she discovered the truth about her mum Donna’s (Verity Rushworth) death in 2014. April then turned to alcohol and drugs.
She also had a falling out with her dad Marlon – before going missing, reports Leeds Live. Since then, Marlon has been left devastated, determined to find out where April is, along with the rest of the village.

However, this week, CCTV footage showing a possible sighting of April running across a street in Leeds was shown to her family and Marlon headed to Leeds to distribute leaflets about April. During Wednesday’s episode (January 15), Marlon continued his search for April, joined by Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy).
However, Emmerdale viewers were quick to pick up on Marlon’s persistent cough. His partner Rhona Goskirk, played by Zoe Henry, expressed her worry, saying, “Marlon, you’re no use to anyone if you’re poorly, you have to take care of yourself.”

The plot has prompted fans to speculate that it could be hinting at Marlon’s devastating exit from the show. On an Emmerdale fan page on Facebook, a fan noted, “Did anyone else notice Marlon coughing? ” The speculation spread like wildfire in the comments: “Yes it’s worrying! ” Another fan feared it could signal his demise: “Foreshadowing his death I think.”
Some hoped it wasn’t the case, with one commenting, “You could be onto something but I really hope not! ” Others thought it could lead to a different twist: “All the stress from April could trigger a heart attack or something? ” And another viewer suggested, posting on X, “The shouting has given Marlon a bad cough now, pneumonia storyline coming soon for Marlon.”
