However, according to a neuroscientist, there’s one simple daily activity that could help reverse the process. Robert Love, known for his viral health advice on TikTok, recently revealed this secret during a discussion with Dr Josh Helman, from Harvard University.

They opened up about the best ways to promote anti-ageing, and it could be simpler than you think.

When asked what is the best thing people can do to slow down the ageing process, Dr Helman replied: “So many different things, but one of the key things I’ve learned is the importance of autophagy, which is the body’s ability to eat itself, as in do spring cleaning on proteins, get rid of deformed proteins in yourselves, and basically renew.

“That is one of the key ways to turn back the biological clock and promote longevity.”

He also said there’s a simple way we can increase autophagy, adding: “Two key ways. One way is to exercise rigorously for at least 60 minutes.

“The next thing you can do is take a supplement that’s also found in food called spermidine. I would start at 1mg and then, in terms of where people can get the supplement, they can also get foods that are high in spermidine like beans and wheatgerm.”

Since the video was posted, it has received hundreds of likes and numerous comments, with many expressing gratitude for the shared advice.

Can excerise really prevent ageing?

While there’s no magic way to halt ageing entirely, regular physical activity does offer a host of benefits. It’s reported that consistent exercise can slow the ageing process and enhance overall health.

Plus, it’s instrumental in preserving muscle mass and bone density. Exercise also stimulates skin cell metabolism, potentially reversing some age-related changes in skin cells.

Additionally, it can help counteract the decline in aerobic power that comes with age. Spermidine, a natural compound, is also touted for its anti-ageing properties.
