There has been an outpouring of anger after an elderly man was beaten as he waited at a bus stop in Handsworth. The 82-year-old was on the Soho Road, close to the junction of Boulton Road, when he was attacked around 3.30pm on Tuesday (January 14).
The attacker left the scene and the man remains in a critical condition in hospital. Det Supt Shaun Edwards, who is heading the investigation, said officers are reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses as they search for the person responsible.
The force is also appealing to anyone with dashcam footage to contact them urgently. Meanwhile, around 550 Birmingham Live readers left comments on Facebook expressing sympathy for the pensioner.
