BBC EastEnders Minty star Cliff Parisi hints at huge return 15 years exit

Former ‘EastEnders star Cliff Parisi has hinted at a potential return to the beloved soap, adopting a “never say never” attitude.

The 64-year-old actor was all grins on Thursday’s episode of The One Show, where he chatted about his role as Fred Buckle in Call the Midwife, among other topics.

However, when hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp quizzed him about a possible comeback to Albert Square after a fifteen-year hiatus, Cliff, who played the character Minty Peterson in ‘ EastEnders ‘, gave an enthusiastic response.

Alex queried: “We have to ask because we said we would, Cliff, would you ever return to EastEnders to play Minty?”

To which Cliff responded: “You know what, I loved playing Minty. I had such a ball, and you know I’ve been watching the repeats, and I remember how much fun it was and what a laugh we had!”

He continued: “So never say never, that’s all I’d say. I really had fun doing it and I loved the show and I’m really grateful for everything it’s done for me,” reports the Manchester Evening News.

“So never say never, but I don’t like going backwards, I like to keep my eyes on the forward.”

Cliff became a fan favourite as Minty, leaving the drama in 2010. His departure marked a poignant moment for viewers, having been a mainstay on the show since 2002.

Minty’s exit storyline saw him leave Walford behind in pursuit of new beginnings following some personal challenges.

Back then, Minty was left devastated by his failed romances and the toll they took on his life. He decided to bid adieu to the hustle of the East End in an attempt to start afresh elsewhere.

His exit from the show was marked by a touching goodbye with his close-knit circle of friends in the community, making for an emotional yet hopeful farewell.

Despite his departure, Minty’s time in Walford left a lasting impression on viewers who had come to love his comical yet vulnerable character.

Since leaving the show, Cliff has kept himself busy with a string of roles. Alongside his recurring role in Call the Midwife, he has also made an appearance in Doctor Who.
