Scots antiques expert Theo Burrell has shared an update following her recent announcement that she requires more treatment following the “regrowth” of a cancerous brain tumour.
Theo, from East Lothian, is best known for appearing on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow. The 38-year-old previously revealed her diagnosis of a grade four glioblastoma in 2022.
Following treatment, which included surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, in an effort to “keep the cancer under control”, she shared her worries in October that the tumour had returned.
She was due to undergo another scan, which then confirmed the “regrowth”. In a post to social media on December 18, she explained she would be starting back on chemotherapy, in the form of the drug Temozolomide, soon, reports the Mirror.
Theo described the treatment journey as “relentless”, but remained positive.

Theo shared to Instagram this week that her treatment would resume ahead of Hogmanay. Looking ahead, she wrote: “It’s been a really nice few days over the festive period, but today is the big day – restarting treatment. This afternoon I’m off to the Western General in Edinburgh to collect my Temozolomide tablets, and I begin the first of potentially 12 rounds.
“I know that (unfortunately) I’m in good company, with many, many patients pushing through their treatment plans as I write this. It sucks. It’s relentless, it makes you feel awful, and you can’t do a whole bunch of things because you’re immunosuppressed – but there is some comfort in being in it together.

“And I’m very grateful I have this option still open to me. So to all of you out there wading through treatment – I’m joining your gang, if you’ll have me?! Let’s show these cancer cells the door!”
Theo’s post attracted a host of supportive messages in the comments section. One person replied: “Thinking of you Theo. Really hope the treatment isn’t too rough and you can still get pockets of joy here and there.” Another wrote: “You’ve got this Theo and you have an army of supporters at your back.”
A third follower, who said they had just finished treatment, commented: “Sending love, strength and hope.”
Another fan said: “Thinking of you Theo. Wishing you all the best.” A fifth said: “Go for it Theo. All the best.”
