Man, 25, dies after being hit by van on Dock Road

The road remains closed in both directions and people are advised to avoid the area

A man has died after being hit by a van. Merseyside Police confirmed officers were called to reports of a crash involving a motorbike and van on Dock Road near the junction with Limekiln Lane in Wallasey at around 2.40pm on Friday, January 17.

Emergency services attended the scene and the motorcyclist – a 25-year-old man – was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Merseyside Police has now confirmed the man was pronounced dead in hospital.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene of the crash. The road remains closed in both directions and people are advised to avoid the area. Police are appealing for who saw the collision to get in touch and while officers conduct CCTV and witness enquiries.

Chief Inspector Phil Thompson said: “First and foremost, our thoughts and condolences are with victim’s family at this tragic time and we have specially trained officers supporting them. We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision to please get in touch.

“If you were driving through the area at the time of the incident, please review your dashcam to see if you captured anything significant that could help our inquiries. Road closures will remain in place this evening so please avoid the area and updates will be issued when the road is reopened.”
