A fast food restaurant has shut their Huddersfield town centre branch.
Earlier this week, the New Street branch of KFC served its last bargain bucket. It is the latest big name closure in Huddersfield town centre.
Confirming the KFC exit, a spokesperson said: “We’re constantly reviewing our portfolio of over 1,000 restaurants across the UK, and at times, this sadly means we have to close some. KFC fans can still enjoy our delicious fried chicken at our nearby Westbourne Road, Leeds Road and Wakefield Road restaurants, which are just a few minutes away.”
It is understood that all staff at the New Street branch have been relocated to KFC’s nearby restaurants. In recent weeks, we’ve reported on closures of major businesses such BrewDog and Slug and Lettuce. The Kingsgate Shopping Centre has seen the Medicare Health Check Centre shut, leaving another vacant premises, while this week, Next declared their intentions to close their Kingsgate branch later this year.
Additionally, Huddersfield town centre ‘s streets are unfortunately littered with empty shop and hospitality units.
