Tess Daly aimed a two-word dig at her husband Vernon Kay as she addressed a recent disagreement between the pair, as she said he’s ‘really intense’.
Appearing on a recent episode of the Netmums podcast, the Strictly Come Dancing star elaborated on her life at home with popular radio DJ Vernon, saying that they struggle to see eye to eye over one thing.
Talking to the hosts about how she tries to keep fit and healthy, Tess said that that is one part of their lives that they rarely do together, as she said: “Well no (we don’t exercise together), not really, because he gets all knowledgeable about it, he’s a fair weather exerciser so, you know he’ll be fit six months of the year and then do nothing for the other six, apart from the swinging of a golf club occasionally.”
Aiming a two-word dig at her husband Vernon she explained one particular aspect of his fitness regime that she struggles to get on board with: “Where as I do a little and often, and for me that works better. He’ll do it and get really intense about it.”

The 55-year-old joked as she criticised her husbands hypocritical nature when it comes to his diet, adding: “He’ll be really preachy and I’ll be like ‘la la la okay’.
“And I’ll read through that last week (what he’s said about his diet), so don’t tell me that this week because you’re against it, because next week you’ll be eating it again. So I tend to just tend to let him get on with his real beefy, manly uber sweaty workout and I’ll do my more languorous form, which works for me.”
Having first met when they were both in attendance at a BBC Christmas bash over 20 years ago, Tess and Vernon would later go on to tie the knot in 2003 and now have two daughters, Phoebe 20, and Amber, 15.
Vernon is set to host this evening’s National Lottery New Year’s Eve Big Bash alongside Fleur East on ITV1 at 5.45pm, with viewers also able to watch live performances from singers including Craig David and Olly Alexander.
