A beloved Coronation Street star could be set for a shock exit, after the soap’s new boss teased major shake-ups on the cobbles.
Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) has been a staple on the soap since 1997 – rocking up with the rest of the Battersby clan, including sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor).
And over the years, Leanne has played a part in several big storylines; from shock affairs and sex work to heartbreaking baby loss and drug abuse. However, Leanne’s had a seriously tough time in the past twelve months.
Not only was she lured in, and conned, by a cult, The Insitute, and its leader Rowan (Emrhys Cooper), Leanne was left devastated when she found out Toyah had slept with her then-fiancé Nick (Ben Price).

Despite Toyah and Nick calling it quits when the truth came to light, the pair rekindled things last month behind Leanne’s back again. In typical soap fashion though, Leanne found out – and was out for revenge.
Deciding to teach them a lesson, she framed Nick and Toyah for theft. However, her scheme didn’t go to plan and it soon backfired on her.
This week, due to Leanne not covering her tracks, she was arrested for fraud. Determined not to see her sister in prison, Toyah persuaded Nick to get on side to do whatever they could to stop her from getting sent behind bars.
Leanne’s revenge plan backfired
In a bid to save Leanne’s skin, Nick pleaded to DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) to drop the charges against Leanne. Later on, Swain told Leanne that she was being charged with fraud – but when Leanne asked her if she was set to go to prison, DS Swain didn’t reply.
Now, fans are convinced that Leanne will end up getting sent behind bars, with one person writing on a Corrie Facebook fan page: “Leanne deserves everything she gets, she committed a crime.”

Someone else replied: “Would love to see her go to prison.” A third penned: “Yes I think she’ll go to prison.” Another person said: “I thought this as well, the actress probably needs a break!” .
Fans’ fears that Leanne could be set for a prison exit come after Corrie’s new boss Kate Brooks warned fans to expect several exits in 2025 that “will send shockwaves”. She shared: There are a few exits this year, and some unexpected ones that will send shockwaves. People might not expect the exits, but there are a few.”
