Police have issued an update following a crash involving a bus and a car on a busy Salford road. Four people were rescued from the bus by firefighters following the collision on Blackfriars Road at around 9.40pm on Sunday night (December 30).
Images from the scene showed the crash involving a black Mercedes-Benz car and a Bee Network bus. Police taped off the road near to Great Clowes Street for several hours overnight.
It’s understood five people were taken to hospital in total following the crash, including the bus driver. In an update issued this morning, police confirmed that all casualties involved were taken to hospital as a precaution, with no serious injuries reported.
A GMP spokesman said: “At around 9.40pm last night (Sunday, December 29 2024), we were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a bus and a car on Blackfriars Road in Salford. No serious injuries were reported but a number of casualties were taken to hospital as a precaution.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.” Blackfriars Road reopened this morning.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service added: “At just before 9.50pm on Sunday (December 29) two fire engines from Salford fire station plus the technical response unit from Leigh fire station were called to reports of a crash involving a car and a bus on Blackfriars Road, Salford.
“Firefighters extricated the driver and three others from the bus before handing them to the care of colleagues form North West Ambulance Service. Crews made the area safe alongside Greater Manchester Police and were in attendance for around one hour and 20 minutes.”
