TV favourite Alison Hammond shared a playful story about how she donned a police officer costume for New Year’s Eve in Newquay, Cornwall and even received free burgers.
Speaking of the revelries from 25 years ago during the Millennium celebrations, the now 49 year old presenter disclosed her antics to The Sun: “Remember the Millennium? I dressed up. In Newquay, everybody dresses up in fancy dress for New Year and I went as a police officer.”
Alison recounted how her outfit led to amusing encounters, including pretend law enforcement: “There was a burger stall and I got free burgers because I was a police officer. I told somebody off about drinking alcohol on the street, so they gave me their Champagne.”
The light-hearted deception resulted in a particularly lively night for the ITV star: “It’s a bit naughty, but it was a really fun night – until one person discovered that I wasn’t a police officer because I was wearing trainers, and they chased me down the street. That was definitely memorable!”
Amidst a surge in her TV career from her roles in several high-profile UK shows, the Great British Bake Off presenter is also garnering significant attention for her successful weight loss journey, having shed an impressive 69kg (11 stone) naturally, without resorting to treatments like weight loss injections such as Ozempic.
In an interview with Good Housekeeping UK, Alison shared her thoughts on weight loss injections, stating: “I think that, for people who need to use them, they’re a good thing – but for me, as soon as I hear any scare story, I get frightened. So, I haven’t wanted to use them, but that’s not to say I wouldn’t in the future, and I certainly wouldn’t look down on anyone who did.”

Alison attributes her significant weight loss to four key factors. Speaking on This Morning, she explained: “I thought, I have to be an adult about this,” reports Birmingham Live.
“The sweets had to stop – and the fatty foods. Twice a week, I see my personal trainer and I have a couple of weights in my bedroom. I walk, I stretch and sometimes I do a bit of yoga.”
Meanwhile, fellow TV personality Lisa Faulkner expressed a different sentiment about the New Year in an interview with Bella magazine.
She revealed: “It’s one of my worst nights of the year. I don’t like the feeling of the end of something. There is always so much pressure to have a good time, and I don’t want to stay out late. I used to love that, but that’s not me anymore. I’d rather celebrate by cooking and going for a walk on New Year’s Day.”
