Part of a key route into Birmingham was sealed off this morning, January 2, due to a police incident. The A38 Kingsbury Road has been sealed off in the eastbound direction at the height of rush hour this morning.
The nature of the incident remains unclear, but live traffic system INRIX states it is ongoing between the Forge Lane and Walmley Ash Road junctions of the A38 Kingsbury Road. The incident is ongoing in Minworth, a Sutton Coldfield village.
There are a significant number of industrial units in the Forge Lane area, as well as an Asda superstore. An INRIX update read: “A38 Kingsbury Road Eastbound closed, heavy traffic due to police incident from Forge Lane (Minworth ) to Walmley Ash Road (Minworth Island, Minworth).”
A heavy traffic warning was issued just after 7am as West Midlands commuters return to the roads this morning following the Christmas break.
BirminghamLive has approached West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance for a statement. We will bring that to you as soon as we get it.
