Alan Titchmarsh has spilled the beans on the ‘unbearable’ behaviour of some of the major stars he’s interviewed. The green-fingered TV star, who hosts Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh on ITV each Sunday, opened up about the rude behaviour he has witnessed from some celebrities.
Speaking about his time on BBC show Pebble Mill, which was broadcast live from the Pebble Mill studios in Birmingham from 1972 to 1986 and again from 1991 to 1996, the 75-year-old star confessed he witnessed impolite behaviour from some stars. Speaking to the I newspaper, the beloved former Ground Force and Gardeners’ World host said: “For the most part, the guests on Pebble Mill were also very polite.
“But there was the odd exception. I’ve been in situations where famous people have been rude to waiters or waitresses and I find that unbearable.”

Whilst not naming any specific ill-mannered famous faces, he shared an anecdote about his meeting with actress Dame Joan Collins. He recalled: “People always ask interviewers, ‘What were they REALLY like?’ don’t they?
“I remember the second time I interviewed Joan Collins, I told her people had asked me what she was like ‘close up’. She thrust her face towards me and said: ‘Well??! ‘I said: ‘Very good!'”
Alan hosted the iconic show, which was broadcast live from the studio’s foyer, in the early 90s until its end in 1996. During his time on the show he interviewed huge names including Shirley Bassey and Morgan Freeman.
