Aldi’s new dehumidifier dries clothes faster, prevents mould and eases allergies

Aldi has introduced a dehumidifier that’s being hailed as “perfect” for enhancing air quality in homes. Priced at £89.99, the Midi Dehumidifier boasts a roughly two-litre tank capacity and comes equipped with a digital display featuring a 24-hour timer.

Additional features include overflow protection, a child-lock function, and variable fan speeds. The 200W device is also fitted with wheels for easy movement around the house.

Set to hit the shelves on Sunday (Jan 12), the AMBIANO brand dehumidifier is described as a tool to “winterproof” your home. “These are perfect for improving the air quality and help to reduce allergies. You can also use it to help dry your clothes quicker with its clothes drying mode,” the product description states.

Dehumidifiers are particularly beneficial for those battling persistent dampness, aiding in reducing condensation and preventing mould when drying laundry indoors, say CHOICE household experts. “A dehumidifier removes moisture from the air, helping prevent mould.

“They mostly work by drawing air in, then filtering and cooling it to condense moisture. It’s then reheated before warmer and dryer air is released,” according to the consumer advocacy group’s website

In reference to the laundry feature present in many dehumidifiers, the specialists noted: “They’re no match for tumble dryers, but they’re still a great option if you don’t have outdoor drying space, especially during colder months.” When it comes to choosing a dehumidifier, the experts suggest reflecting on noise, size and weight to find the appliance that’s best for your home.

Aldi is also offering a new ranger of laundry and household items as part of its Specialbuys selection, reports the Express. The launch this weekend includes a £9.99 Spray Mop, a handy £17.99 Portable Vacuum Cleaner, and a £29.99 Oil-Filled Radiator, available in black or white.
