A wall of snow is heading for the UK and is set to bring three days of disruption starting this weekend. A Met Office yellow weather warning is in place for the whole of England and parts of Scotland from Saturday, remaining in place until Monday.
It means widespread snowfall is expected over a three-day period, bringing travel disruption. The weather warnings are in place from noon on Saturday.
‘Heavy’ snow is set to blow in from Ireland over Wales on Saturday evening before heading to northern England and the Midlands heading into Sunday. Heavy rain is also expected for many parts, so snow that has fallen may not settle everywhere.

More snow is forecast for parts of northern England and Scotland early on Monday. The nationwide weather warning mean almost all parts of England and much of Scotland could see some snow over the weekend and into Monday.
In particular, cities like Cardiff, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle and Birmingham are set to see snowfall. The Met Office said of its weather warnings: “Heavy snow may cause some disruption over the weekend.
“There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected. There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off.
“There is a chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.” Its forecast from Saturday says: “Possibly disruptive rain and snow arriving in the south on Saturday, moving north into central areas on Sunday where it will turn milder. Colder, drier with wintry showers on Monday.”
