All the flood alerts in Wales after night of snow and heavy rain

Flood alerts have been issued for parts of Wales which have been hit by heavy rain and thawing snow. It comes as further weather warnings have been issued for heavy rainfall and snow and ice.

Natural Resources Wales has issued flood alerts on Sunday morning. A yellow weather warning for rain has been put in place between 6am on Sunday and 6am on Monday. The Met Office said outbreaks of rain, heavy in some places, were likely with 15 to 25mm of rainfall expected. This will be combined with thawing of snow, which may lead to flooding.

A further weather warning for snow and ice will be in place between 12am and 12pm tomorrow, with further snowfall and icy stretches in places. A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.”

Here are the flood alerts which are currently in place:

Rivers Nant-Y-Fendrod and Nant Bran

The NRW said: “Flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected. Rainfall is currently affecting this area. River Levels are above normal levels. We will continue to monitor the situation.

Lower Severn catchment in Powys

The NRW: “Flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected. River Levels will be above normal levels. Roads close to Cilcewydd, Trehelig, Welshpool and Llandrinio could also be affected with rising river levels. We will continue to monitor the situation.”

Vyrnwy catchment

The NRW: “Areas around the River Dee from Llangollen to Trevalyn Meadows.”
