All the parts of England, Wales, Scotland waking up to snow on New Year’s Day

Forecasters have predicted snow to fall over different areas of the UK tomorrow on New Year’s Day. Weather maps from WX Charts reveal that areas of England, Scotland and Wales could get a powdering of the white stuff.

Snow has been forecasted to arrive in the Scottish Highlands tonight, according to wxcharts.com. Weather charts indicate up to 7.5cm (3in) of snow falling at 12am on New Year’s Day.

The band of snow will make its way southwards across Scotland, arriving at the border with England at around 12pm with up to 4.56cm (1.7in), WX Charts maps show. By 3pm, parts of northern England could experience a sprinkling of 5.88cm (2.3in) of snow.

The snow is set to continue moving southwards, with smaller areas of snowfall predicted at 9pm over the Peak District and Greater Manchester area, with around 2.94cm (1.1in) of snow predicted. In north Wales, there is set to be around 2.32cm (0.9in) of snow at this time.

The Met Office has predicted sleet and snow moving across south across Scotland today. While central England can expect a wet night. It comes as a Yellow wind warning remains in place for large parts of England from 12.15am tomorrow (January 1) until 3pm that day.

The Met Office said for its Tuesday forecast: “A wet night across northern and central England and Wales. Rain, sleet and snow also moving south across Scotland, with a few showers for Northern Ireland. Staying windy.”

For its New Year’s Day forecast, the Met Office added: “A wet and windy New Year’s Day for much of England and Wales. Colder for Northern Ireland and Scotland, with a mix of sunshine and wintry showers.”
