FORMER President, Jimmy Carter, is being laid to rest after passing away at the age of 100.
His funeral takes place on January 9, 2025, just over a year after he said goodbye to his wife of 77 years, Rosalynn. Here is all we know about their four children and grandchildren.

Who are Jimmy Carter’s children?
Jimmy Carter married Rosalynn Smith on July 7, 1946.
The couple were married for 77 years before her death on November 19, 2023, and had four children together.
The 39th President celebrated his 100th birthday on October 1, 2024, before passing away two months later on December 29.
Jimmy and Rosalyn moved into The White House after the Democrat’s victory in 1977.

Their three sons – Jack, James, and Donnel – were all grown by the time their father became president.
However, his youngest child, Amy, spent part of her childhood in The White House.

Businessman and politician Jack Carter is Jimmy and Rosalynn’s eldest son, born on July 3, 1947.
He was the 2006 Democratic candidate for the US Senate in Nevada, but lost to the Republican incumbent.
Jack has two children, Jason and Sarah, from his first marriage to Juliet “Judy” Langford Carter.
Jack marriage to Judy ended in divorce in 1989, and he tied the knot with second wife, Elizabeth Brasfield, in 1992.

With Elizabeth, Jack has two stepchildren, film director John Chuldenko and painter Sarah Reynolds.
Jack joined the US Navy in 1968 but left two years later.
James Earl “Chip” Carter III
Chip Carter is the former President’s second son, born on April 12, 1950, in Honolulu, Hawaii, when his father was stationed there in the Navy.
According to the 2016 book First Dads, Chip, has worked as a political consultant for hundreds of campaigns for Democratic candidates.
He has married three times and is reportedly still with his third wife, Becky Payne.

James Carter IV, his son with first wife Caron Griffin, made headlines during the 2012 presidential election when he helped to leak damning footage of nominee Mitt Romney.
Caron and Chip were married in 1973, but divorced in 1980.
He went on to marry Ginger Hodges in 1987, and they had a daughter, Margaret Alicia Carter.
After divorcing Ginger, Chip married third wife Becky in 2001.
Chip and Becky became part of Jimmy’s six around-the-clock caregivers after he moved into hospice care.
As his father celebrated his 100th birthday on October 1, 2024, Chip shared that his dad was an “early riser” who often missed the Atlanta Braves’ games due to his early bedtime of 7.30pm.
However, he would record them for his dad and watch them together the next day.
Chip confirmed his father’s death in December 2024 with a touching statement.
It read: “My father was a hero, not only to me but to everyone who believes in peace, human rights, and unselfish love.
“My brothers, sister, and I shared him with the rest of the world through these common beliefs.
“The world is our family because of the way he brought people together, and we thank you for honoring his memory by continuing to live these shared beliefs.”
Donnel Jeffrey “Jeff” Carter
Jeff Carter was born on August 18, 1952, and is the youngest of Jimmy and Rosalynn’s sons.
Jess married his childhood sweetheart Annette Davis in 1975, and they had three sons – Joshua, Jeremy, and James Carter.
Sadly, Jeremy died in 2015 at the age of 28.
Six years later Jeff lost his wife, Annette, on September 19, 2021, at the age of 68.
According to Business Insider, Jeff cofounded Computer Mapping Consultants in 1978.
The former computer-mapping company became a consultancy for the World Bank in 1978.
Amy Lynn Carter
Amy Carter was born on October 19, 1967 – 15 years after the birth of her youngest brother, Jeff.
She was just nine years old when her father entered office, making her the only Carter child to grow up in The White House.
She was the subject of much media attention, as the first child to live in Presidential residence since John F. Kennedy was in power.

Amy later became known for her political activism, participating in sit-ins and protests during the 1980s and early 1990s.
The youngest Carter child lives in the Atlanta area, with her second husband.
She married first-husband, James Wentzel, in September 1996, and their son Hugo James was born on July 29, 1999.
However, the marriage ended in divorce and Amy wed John Joseph Kelly in 2007.
They have one child, Errol Carter Kelly.
Who are Jimmy Carter’s grandchildren?
Jimmy and Rosalynn reportedly had 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren by the time of both of their deaths.
In a 2015 interview with CNN, Jimmy said: “We have a big family now.
“So, we try to hold our family together and just enjoy the family life.”
Of the couple’s four children, Jack has two kids and three stepchildren, Jeff has three children, Chip has two, and Amy has one.
The Carters’ 11 children and stepchildren have 11 children of their own, meaning Jimmy and Rosalynn have 11 great-grandchildren.
