Another major Huddersfield bar has closed in what has been a very difficult start to the year for the town centre.
BrewDog, which was based in Zetland Street, has shut. The closure coincides with another branch of the craft beer chain calling time in Bradford.
A BrewDog spokesperson said: “Our franchise partner took the difficult decision to close BrewDog bars in Bradford and Huddersfield, but remains a partner and will continue to operate some of our other Yorkshire venues.”
It is understood that there have been no job losses with staff retained and moved to other parts of franchise partner Tokyo Industries’ business. This week, we have reported a number of closures in Huddersfield town centre. The Slug and Lettuce bar and restaurant has shut.
The business, in King Street, announced its closure in a post on social media on Monday afternoon. It has been a part of the town centre nightlife scene since it opened in July 2015.
The Slug and Lettuce post said: “After an amazing journey, Slug and Lettuce Huddersfield has sadly closed its doors. We’ve loved every laugh, every cocktail, and every glittery moment shared with you all. Thank you for being part of the fun and making it so special.”
Elsewhere, we have reported KFC, in New Street, will close later this month.
