The sequel to Bank of Dave sees businessman Dave Fishwick once again taking on a new challenge.
The 2023 film Bank of Dave told the tale of businessman Dave Fishwick (Rory Kinnear) who established a community bank in Burnley to provide loans to individuals struggling to secure them from larger banks.
The somewhat ‘true’ story briefly topped Netflix’s most streamed movies list after its initial release on the streaming platform in 2023.
Now, Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger sees Dave Fishwick tackling an even more formidable adversary than the big banks – payday loan companies.
Alongside an American investigative journalist and a local Citizen’s Advice counsellor, Dave and his team embark on a mission that will ultimately lead them to the United States and aid in dismantling an entire industry of predatory corporations.
The Mirror reports that filming took place in Burnley, Leeds, and Huddersfield in 2024, following the real-life Dave Fishwick’s insistence that the film remain in Burnley.

Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger sees Dave Fishwick (Rory Kinnear) tackling an even more formidable adversary than the big banks – payday loan companies.
Dave Fishwick is back for the sequel, which picks up two years after the establishment of his community bank. The businessman now has his sights set on ‘Payday Lenders’, who exploit vulnerable individuals and leave them burdened with debt.
Rory Kinnear, best known for his role as Bill Tanner in four James Bond films including Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time to Die, has also starred in Broken, The Imitation Game, Lucan, Years and Years and Rings of Power.

Jessica, a dedicated US investigative journalist specialising in finance, is played by Chrissy Metz. She becomes interested in Dave’s story and his struggles.
Metz is best known for her role as Kate Pearson in This Is Us, with other roles in Superstore, Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny and Muppets Haunted Mansion.

US comedian and actor Rob Delaney stars as loan shark Carlo Mancini. He is most recognised for co-creating and starring as Rob Norris in the sitcom Catastrophe, Peter Wisdom in the Deadpool films and appearances in Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One, Argylle and Hobbs and Shaw.

Sir Charles Denbigh, played by Hugh Bonneville, is back for the sequel of Bank of Dave, despite his unsuccessful attempt to thwart Dave’s ambition of having his community bank officially regulated.
Bonneville has been a constant presence on British television, but he has also made a name for himself in Hollywood with roles such as Henry Brown in the Paddington film series and Muppets Most Wanted. He was recently seen in The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, Douglas Is Cancelled and BBC drama The Gold.
Bonneville is perhaps best known for his role as Lord Grantham in Downton Abbey, which earned him two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination. He reprised his role for the feature films, including the 2025 sequel.
