It is not easy staying humble when you have had two Netflix movies made after you – but Dave Fishwick has no choice.
The real-life Bank of Dave said that despite his “life changing” from James Bond star Rory Kinnear playing him in film, his wife makes sure he keeps grounded.
Dave, 53, spoke to Lancashire Live from his home in Burnley, Lancashire, the day after he met famous faces like Simon Cowell.
And speaking about Nicky’s role in keeping him level-headed, he laughed: “We have been together over 30 years and I was down yesterday on television and then I was with Netflix and I met half a dozen people from the telly.
“I come home and said to Nicky, ‘I’ve met Simon Cowell or I’ve met this guy or that lady’ or somebody mega famous off the telly.

“And she will say, ‘never mind all that nonsense, Dave, do you want corned beef hash or cottage pie for your tea’. And it grounds you immediately.”
Dave has previously said how Nicky has no interest in wealth and the pair, who have two children and two grandkids, are giving 90% of their money away after death.
Ahead of the sequel Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger – the self-made millionaire arrived at the movie premiere in one of the minibuses that made his fortune.
The bad weather meant he had to get his wellies on and shovel the snow out of the way and he added: “I think I am the only person in the world to go to a premier in a bus with my wellies on and shovel.
“And I jumped out and I was shovelling snow off the front, I put Nicky over my shoulder and carried her in.”
Documentary maker Dave plays an Italian-American gangster in the Bank of Dave 2. It is a “truish” story where he (portrayed by Kinnear) takes on the payday loan companies after learning residents were being charged up to 5,000% interest.
