The coffee shop will open to customers next week
The Coffee House in Liverpool
A coffee chain which recently opened its first shop in Liverpool city centre is branching into Ellesmere Port, and is looking for staff. The Coffee House, an independent coffee business from Cheshire, has announced the opening of its 29th location in the town’s Port Arcades Shopping Centre.
The coffee shop will open to customers on Monday, January 6, at 8am. Building on a successful 2024 which saw the opening of nine new stores, Coffee House bosses Chris and Stephen Shelmerdine estimate the new year will be the business’ biggest yet.
Beginning in Lymm in 2011, The Coffee House already operates stores in Bootle, Birkenhead, Huyton, Kirkby, St Helens, Widnes, Warrington and beyond. It opened its first city centre location in Liverpool’s St Johns Shopping Centre in October 2024, and aims to open its landmark 30th shop in Farnworth later this month.

The new Ellesmere Port branch is almost complete and job advertisements for baristas and store managers are live on The Coffee House’s website.
Chris said: “When designing each new location, we aim to create an environment that reflects the unique spirit of the community. We include location-specific wall murals in every store as a nod to the community we’re joining. Be sure to spot Ellesmere Port’s mural when you visit.”
Adam Fletcher, head of growth at the Coffee House, added: “We would like to extend a big thank you to our incredible community as we continue to grow. Since our first store in 2011, your support has driven all our efforts as an independent coffee shop.
“We are super excited to open in Ellesmere Port. One of the highlights of this area is the way people here support independent businesses. It makes a real difference. We’re thrilled to be part of a community that values local and independent enterprises.”
The Coffee House has carved out a unique place in the market by focusing on often-overlooked high streets across the North. Known for its signature house blend coffee roasted daily in Warrington, its menu also includes freshly made sandwiches, paninis, cakes, teacakes, and breakfast options.
