BBC Breakfast viewers issue same complaint after ‘cringe’ interview

BBC Breakfast viewers were left bemused following an unconventional interview with the first evictee from The Traitors. The popular BBC murder mystery series kicked off its third season on New Year’s Day, introducing a new group of contestants.

Claudia Winkleman returned as the host, designating Linda, Minah and Armani as her Traitors. The remaining 19 contestants were dubbed the Faithful and on Wednesday night, the Traitors had to choose one to be ‘murdered’.

They chose communication scientist Yin, who became the first contestant to be ‘murdered’ and eliminated from the competition. Following the episode, Yin appeared on BBC Breakfast for a post-exit interview.

She joined hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty and during their conversation, she unveiled her hidden talent. Charlie noted that she was ‘a bit of a singer’, which led Yin to spontaneously break into song on the morning show.

The Traitors contestant gave a spirited performance of R. Kelly’s song I Believe I Can Fly, changing the lyrics to: “I believe I can lie, I believe I can falsify, plan a murder every night and day, to make the Faithfuls all go away.”, reports the Mirror.

Yin went on to perform yet another song about love for the hosts, despite a mixed reception from viewers. Those tuning in quickly took to social media to express their disdain.

One viewer commented: “#BBCBreakfast That woman from #traitors was pure cringe.”

Another chimed in adding frustration: “For goodness sake. That bloody woman from the Traitors is doing my head in. Not interested in her chirruping away with the birds nest on her head.” A perplexed watcher questioned: “#bbcbreakfast what have I just watched #traitors.”

Following her early departure from the show, Yin cast doubt on The Traitors’ prospects, calling them too “chaotic” and stating they currently lack the ability to cooperate. She voiced concerns about their future effectiveness, contending that a major act of deceit would be necessary to bring the group back into cohesion and to steer clear of being unmasked.

Speaking to the Mirror, Yin analysed: “They are too chaotic as a three, you can tell already they are not going to work together. They’ve got the wrong combination of people. As individuals they are all phenomenal but as a trio they don’t congeal.

“Armani and Minah seem close, but Linda is not very strong and she’s hiding a bit. Jake cottoned onto her, so she could be a bit more proactive about it because he was right about her. In their commentary about each other they are already criticising each other which is a bad sign, a first impression gone sour.”

“There should be more respect and admiration, they should be excited to work together but Minah thinks Armani is on another team. She’s already clocked that they do not have a team, and Linda says Armani is doing too much. I can’t see them lasting for very long, that’s the honest truth.”

When asked about her premature departure from the show, Yin shared her disappointment: “I didn’t get a breakfast, or a roundtable or a proper mission with everyone involved. These are all critical ingredients in this whole experience that I missed out on so it feels disappointing.”
