BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood found herself in an amusing on-air moment this Thursday morning when her colleague pointed out a past gaffe.
The show saw a change in the presenting lineup, with Naga Munchetty teaming up with Nina Warhurst instead of her usual co-host Charlie Stayt, who was absent.
Naga couldn’t resist noting the similarity between her and Nina’s names, which led to a light-hearted jab at Carol’s previous error.
After Carol delivered the weather update, predicting colder temperatures, she concluded with: “A lot of dry weather, it’s going to be a cold day, perhaps just not quite as cold as it’s going to be today or tonight, Nina and Naga.”

Back in the studio, Naga teased, “You’re going to struggle with Nina and Naga, Naga and Nina today aren’t you? You struggle with calling me Nana!”
Carol, clearly amused by her own mix-up, laughed and covered her face. Naga then explained that ‘Nana’ is actually the name of her producer.
Inquiring if Carol had ever mistakenly called Nina Nana, Naga received a witty retort from Nina, she said: “No, only you Naga!” While Carol continued to chuckle, Naga playfully chided her, and Nina added: “She never struggles with anything! Thank you, Carol.”

The lighthearted embarrassment wasn’t limited to Carol, as Naga herself faced a playful ‘shaming’ from her co-star earlier in the programme, reports the Express.
While discussing the upcoming release of The Vicar of Dibley stamps by The Royal Mail, the pair reflected on how time flies.
Upon watching a clip of Dawn French in the classic sitcom, Nina remarked: “Looking at that Naga, it’s the kind of show where I go, ‘Oh, it was only a few years ago’. But no, it was such a long time ago!”
Naga agreed and commented on the swift passage of time, replying: “We’re already at the time where we stop saying Happy New Year, apparently. I don’t think I’ve said it to Carol, though.”

Surprised, Nina playfully teased: “Have you not? ! Shame on you.” Naga quickly explained she hadn’t yet encountered Carol, defending her oversight.
As they transitioned to Carol, she confirmed to the hosts that Naga had indeed sent her a message earlier in the New Year. After presenting the weather, Naga verified: “I did see the message! I checked, and we did send a message very early on New Year’s Day.”
Nina made a light-hearted jab about the struggle to remember the start of New Year’s Day, implying it could be a common experience. Sharing a knowing glance and a laugh without commenting further, the duo then proceeded to the forthcoming section of the show.
BBC Breakfast continues weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
