Naga Munchetty appeared to have a moment of embarrassment on Thursday’s edition of BBC Breakfast. The presenter was discussing the new stamps being issued by The Royal Mail when the conversation took a humorous turn.
Her colleague Nina Warhurst mentioned that there will be 12 special stamps celebrating memorable moments from the much-loved sitcom, The Vicar of Dibley. As images of the stamps were shown, Nina remarked on how it feels like the show wasn’t aired that long ago.
She commented: “Looking at that Naga, it’s the kind of show where I go, ‘Oh, it was only a few years ago’. But no, it was such a long time ago!”
Naga agreed, noting how quickly time passes and then shared something about their fellow presenter Carol Kirkwood. Naga admitted: “We’re already at the time where we stop saying Happy New Year, apparently. I don’t think I’ve said it to Carol, though.”

Nina expressed surprise, saying: “Have you not?! Shame on you.” Naga defended herself, stated: “I don’t think so. I haven’t seen her! “
Nina suggested that Naga could have sent Carol a message to wish her well for the new year, which Naga conceded was ‘true’.
When the segment transitioned to Carol for the weather update, the veteran meteorologist confirmed that Naga had indeed messaged her, saying: “You did message me Naga! And Happy New Year again to you both.”

Following the weather forecast, which predicted a drop in temperatures, Naga seemed to recall their previous exchange, reports the Express.
She informed her co-star: “I did see the message! I checked, and we did send a message very early on New Year’s Day.” Teasing Naga, Nina remarked: “I’m sure you’re not the only one who can’t remember everything about the morning of New Year’s Day.”
With a playful smile, Nina chuckled as Naga quickly transitioned to the next segment of the show. Typically, Naga hosts the programme with her male colleague Charlie Stayt on Thursdays. However, he was noticeably absent from his usual position, with Nina filling in.

While his absence wasn’t mentioned on air, many viewers expressed their delight at seeing the two women leading the show.
On Twitter, a viewer commented: “Nina and Naga, now there’s a very nice two some indeed, need to be presenting more often together, tbh. More anchor women presenting these shows on a regular basis would be to one’s liking, marvellous, neat and pleasant in fact.”
Another tweeted: “Hi Naga and Nina. What a wonderful surprise to see you two lovely ladies on the red sofa this morning. Thank you for bringing us the news and have a great day ahead. Love our BBC.”
BBC Breakfast continues weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
