BBC Gavin and Stacey fans have been left shocked after watching fresh footage of Uncle Bryn and Jason’s mysterious fishing trip. An hour-long special called Gavin and Stacey: A Fond Farewell reflected on the show since it first aired in 2007.
Led by James Corden and Ruth Jones, it also featured celebrity fans including Minnie Driver, Richard Curtis and Lena Dunham. But an unearthed clip shown during the credits really got fans talking.
Presented in the style of a homemade video, the snippet showed Bryn, played by Rob Brydon, and Jason, plated by Rob Wilfort), on their fishing trip. The outing has been a point of tension between Bryn and his nephew during the sitcom.

Dave Coaches, played by Steffan Rhodri, is the only other character aware of what really happened, Express reports. It has never been disclosed what happened on the trip.
During the closing credits, the fishing escapade was finally touched upon. The scene featured Bryn welcoming Jason, with the intriguing line: “Who do we have here?”
With his typical wit, Bryn remarked: “No one will go hungry in this camp tonight. Enjoy your soup.” The screen then cut to black.
Viewers expressed their excitement on social media after being treated to the unexpected footage. One fan said: “THE FISHING TRIP!!! What a way to close the entirety of this whole story!”
Another wrote: “The fishing trip…brilliant ending.” One commented: “THE END OF THE GAVIN AND STACEY DOCUMENTARY OH MY GOD??!”
A fourth penned: “Teasing the fishing trip in the end credits was f****** class.” The final episode of Gavin and Stacey dominated the ratings on Christmas Day, achieving the highest viewing figures for any non-sporting event in more than 10 years with 12.3 million viewers.
The Christmas special saw Smithy, played by James Corden, and Nessa, played by Ruth Jones, finally tie the knot after 17 years of a will they, wont they romance.
