Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka Marquez opens up about the possibility of tying the knot with Gemma Atkinson, hinting that a wedding could be on the cards. This is despite Gemma’s light-hearted take on marriage.
The beloved Spanish dancer, who’s soon to start his Speakeasy Tour with fellow Strictly personality Karen Hauer, responded to Gemma’s playful remark. Gemma made listeners chuckle with her advice: “You know what to do to avoid ‘Divorce Day’? Just don’t get married!”
She continued on with: “Just stay boyfriend and girlfriend. That’s what we’ve done. I can walk away with no legalities if I want. Not that I want to. Or if he wanted to, he could. There’s nothing legal with us. We’ve been together nearly seven years but we’ve not been married.”

However, Gorka put minds at ease, clarifying: “We will do it, it’s just not at the moment. We are very good like this, especially with having the kids.”
He added a poignant note regarding their son: “Thiago is not independent yet so we don’t want to go into the wedding and be carrying him or halfway through the wedding he starts screaming that he only wants mummy, you know? “.
The 34 year old star Gorka Marquez shared his endearing future wedding plans, where he envisions a family affair with their little ones playing special roles. He elaborated: “So, we will wait until he’s independent like when he’s three or four so maybe he can walk with me and bring the ring and Mia can bring the flowers, things like that.”, reports the Express.
He chuckled about the potential for adorable interruptions, adding, “At the moment, he will be like, ‘Mummy, I want you’ halfway through the wedding and we will have to be like, ‘Okay, can we stop please? ‘” Since sparking romance after meeting on the BBC dance show in 2018, the couple now share two children, with son Thiago arriving in July 2023.
The dancer also hyped up his impending tour alongside Karen Hauer, promising an enthralling “delicious dance experience” for attendees eager to “Mamba, Salsa, Charleston, Foxtrot, and Samba the night away.”
Gorka couldn’t hide his enthusiasm for the project, expressing: “I’m so excited to be going back on the road with Karen and seeing everybody across the UK. We’re going to immerse the audience in an undercover world of dance, and I can’t wait! “.
