The One Show’s Alex Jones had to take a night off from the programme as her son was taken into hospital. The beloved TV presenter raised concerns among fans after she shared on social media that one of her children was in need of medical care.
Alex opted to keep private which of her sons was in the hospital and didn’t provide further details about the situation. On Instagram, she posted an image showing her son in a hospital bed with a nurse attending to him.
While his face wasn’t visible, his outstretched arm and an iPad beside him on the bed were shown. She expressed her gratitude for the hospital staff in her caption: “Never gets any easier but made so much better thanks to the amazingly kind and gentle staff.”

To reassure her followers, Alex later posted another update expressing her “relief” that her son’s treatment was “done”. She shared a selfie with a smile and the message: “Such a relief that it’s done!”
She also informed her audience that she wouldn’t be appearing on @bbctheoneshow that evening but assured them that @laurenlaverne and @gabbylogan would take good care of them. Gabby Logan filled in for Alex alongside regular host Lauren Laverne on last night’s show, where they welcomed guests including Pete Wicks and cast members from the new Netflix series Missing You.
Previously in 2022, Alex disclosed that her son Kit had been in hospital for a routine operation. Alex Jones opened up about her anxious wait during her son Kit’s routine operation, sharing online: “Waiting for my little Kit to come back from the theatre after a very routine op but feels like the longest morning of my life!”
Kit, her second son, arrived on May 13 in 2019, joining big brother Teddy, born in 2017. Alex also has a daughter, Annie, born in 2021, with her husband Charlie Thomson.
