Temperatures are set to rise slightly as the big freeze eases. After temperatures plummeted to -5C at the weekend, they will rise to around 6C, according to the Met Office.
Patchy fog and frost will clear to leave a mostly dry day today, Monday, January 13. There will be some sunshine in the morning, though cloudier later, especially in the north and west.
It will be less chilly and rather windy for a time, before the wind eases later. The maximum temperature will be 6C, according to the Met Office.

The agency said: “Tonight: Early clear spells across southern and eastern areas, but mostly cloudy overnight. Rain in the northwest, turning light and patchy as it extends southeast across the region.
“Generally frost-free. Minimum temperature 3 °C. On Tuesday looks set to be a mostly dry but largely cloudy day. One or two brighter breaks. Temperatures will be near average, though it will be a little breezy.
Maximum temperature 9C. The outlook for Wednesday to Friday is dry on Wednesday and to end the week.
