A woman from Birmingham has admitted possessing a dangerous dog after her pit bull attacked a police officer in Shropshire. Jade Davies was at a house in Isherwoods Way, Wem, in March last year when she was visited by a West Mercia Police officer.
Her banned pit bull bit the officer on the forearm and leg. The officer sustained a deep laceration but has since made a full recovery.
Davies of Woodlands Park Road in Bournville admitted being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury. Pit Bull Terriers are on the banned list of dogs in the UK.

The 25-year-old was given a 13-month jail term, suspended for two years. She has also been sentenced to a 20-day rehabilitation order, and 80 hours of unpaid work. A destruction order has been made for the dog, which is a pit bull, a breed which is banned in the UK.
PC Jack Harper said “Any incident where a person is injured by a dangerous dog is one too many. We have a responsibility to protect the public and safeguard our communities.
“This case exemplifies the harm that can be caused, and how by working with partners offenders can be brought to justice. We continue to work closely with various partners on educating people on the risks posed by some dogs.
“There is a responsibility on all of us to ensure that we do all we can to keep people safe through responsible dog ownership, to ultimately reduce the risk posed to the public.”
