BREAKING: Met Office issues new snow warning for parts of UK including Greater Manchester

It was a cold and snowy start to the day in Greater Manchester.

And we could be in for more of the same tomorrow, the Met Office is forecasting. A new 12 hour weather yellow warning for snow and ice has just been issued.

It begins at midnight tonight and runs until noon on Monday. The warning covers Greater Manchester, much of the North and parts of Wales and the East Midlands.

With temperatures set to stay in the low single figures overnight and with the likelihood of more snow to come, forecasters are warning of more disruption, especially to travel.

The warning states: “Snow will become more sporadic during Monday morning, though some further accumulations of a few centimetres are likely over the Pennines and perhaps the North York Moors. Icy stretches are likely to develop quite widely, making for some difficult travelling conditions.”

The Met Office says the warning has a high likelihood but a low impact. Two Met Office amber snow warnings are currently in place in Greater Manchester after coming into force yesterday afternoon.
