London has looked spectacular over the last few days with snow white frost kissing the ground and bodies of water freezing over.
Pictures shared show the capital from Trafalgar Square to Haggerston, bracing again the chill weather. It comes as The Met Office reports the elements would have felt sub-zero over the last few days (despite being a touch higher) with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) extending its amber warning of cold until 9am next Tuesday (January 14).
But while we’ve been out enjoying the romantic scenery, firefighters have seen a sharp rise in the number of dogs stranded on the ice, and have issued a warning.
A tweet read: “We’ve attended several incidents today where dogs have been trapped on frozen ponds & lakes. Please keep dogs on leads – if your dog ends up on ice, don’t put yourself in danger by going to rescue them yourself. Call 999 and stay off the ice.”
