Brit woman found dead in Vietnam villa as police launch probe

Police have launched an investigation after a British woman was found dead in a villa in Vietnam.

The woman was discovered by staff on December 26 at around 11:18 am at the Hoa Ch Tourist Villa in Hoi An, in the Quang Nam province. A South African man was also discovered dead in a separate room.

The woman, born in 1991, was staying in room 101, while the man, born in 1988, was in room 201. Both had registered for long-term temporary residence at the villa since July 4, reports the Mirror.

Quang Nam Provincial Police conducted an investigation at the scene. Autopsies were also ordered. Initial findings reportedly show no signs of scratches or external force on the bodies. Police did collect several empty bottles of liquor from the scene.

It comes after a British man died in Thailand after reportedly consuming hallucinogenic mushrooms. He is alleged to have purchased the mushrooms on December 20 from a shop in Chiang Mai, a northern city popular with tourists. After taking the substance in his hotel room, the man reportedly experienced a severe reaction, including foaming at the mouth and convulsions, and died shortly thereafter.
