British Gas, OVO, EDF, EON, Octopus customers drying clothes indoors ‘warned’

A warning has been issued to British Gas, OVO, EDF, EON and Octopus customers over a big mistake they’re making while airing clothes indoors. TikTok creator Lynsey Crombie, also known as the Queen of Clean, says you can slash the drying time by using one simple trick.

Lynsey said: “Don’t forget guys, at this time of year when you’ve finished washing your towels and bedding, make sure you leave it in, turn your dial and give it an extra spin. It’s only going to take 10 minutes, but it’s going to make a massive difference to your drying time.”

In reply, a viewer said: “I do this after your advice Lyndsey at it definitely does make a difference.” A second agreed, writing: “I do 2 extra spin cycles. It makes such a difference!” A third typed: “I always give it a extra spin.”

And another chimed in saying: “I do a spin and drain as I find a lot of stuff dries quicker.” Spin speed is an important consideration, as a faster spin could reduce drying time. Typically they range from 1200 – 1600 rpm (revolutions per minute).

Good Housekeeping explains: “If you don’t own a tumble dryer or have limited outdoor space to dry your laundry, it is sometimes worth running your clean wash on an extra spin and drain cycle to help remove as much water as possible from your laundry as it will help reduce drying time.”

The higher the RPM (revolutions per minute), the drier the clothes will come out of the washing machine. As more water is extracted from the clothes, the drier the items will be when you take them out of the washing machine.

And the drier the clothes are, the less time is needed for them to completely dry, experts have said.
