More freezing temperatures, along with more snow and ice, are set to arrive in the UK again this week – which means that you’ll most likely have to de-ice your car.
If you’re fed up with de-icing your car, you’re in luck because I’ve found a device that will turn defrosting your vehicle into a total cinch. Amazon is currently offering the QCHMM Electric Ice Scraper for £36, reduced from £41. Plus, if you’re an Amazon Prime member then you can also claim an extra 10% off by clicking ‘apply voucher’ before making your purchase.
Utilising a set of rotating plastic blades, the electric ice scraper works seamlessly to remove tough patches of ice from your windshield and windows. Using a low amount of pressure, the device won’t scratch or mark the glass, but will quickly remove ice and frost.
While I’ve not tested it out myself, other drivers can’t seem to stop raving about the electric de-icer that’s ideal for avoiding chilly hands. Giving the device a five-star rating, one impressed shopper said: “Since I unfortunately don’t have a garage or carport, I always have to scrape my car out. So far I’ve simply used a normal ice scraper, but if you do it every day, it gets really annoying.
“I then discovered this electric scratch which probably solves the problem. Actually, the principle is also very simple. There are several scratches at the bottom that loosen the ice. Then you can simply sweep it off the window with a whisk.”
While a second shopper, who dubbed the device ‘super’, explained that he’d already brought his third one, so that he had one for each of his vehicles.
Although most people shared positive reviews, it’s worth mentioning that one person revealed that they found the device ‘uncomfortable’ to use. While they didn’t offer any further explanation, it may be that the device felt uncomfortable to use as it creates a sense of pressure as it rotates while in use.
Another popular pick is the £10 Loops Ice Scraper, which shoppers are loving thanks to its insulated glove. Alternatively, thermal windshield covers, such as this £8 pick from Argos will help you avoid needing to scrape ice off your windshield.
