This Chinese New Year, on Wednesday January 29, we’ll be entering the Year of the Snake. According to an ancient myth, the order of zodiac signs are determined by the order in which 12 animals finished a great race across a river. In the race, the Snake finished sixth despite it having no legs.
In the legend, the Snake was able to compensate for not being the best swimmer by hitching a ride on the Horse across the river. When the Horse crossed the line it jumped out, scaring the Horse and taking sixth place. People born in the Year of the Snake (1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, and 2025) are said to be resourceful, insightful, and graceful problem-solvers, embodying the power of adaptability and growth.

According to the Chinese zodiac three signs are set to have a tough year. These are the Pig, Goat, and Ox. Here’s what lies ahead for those signs as reported by Style.
Pig (1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995 and 2007)
The pig is the Snake’s nemesis which is never a good sign for the year. Following a year of luck in 2023, Pigs will have to think things through and take advice before making big decisions. They may feel impatient and edgy with others and should avoid getting caught up in issues that could leave them missing out on good deals. Pigs should avoid being stubborn and be willing to apologise as this will help with unconformable moments.
