Concerns grow for missing schoolboy, 13, last seen on New Year’s Eve

People are being urged to look out for a missing schoolboy who disappeared on New Year’s Eve.

Matthew was last seen at around 6.30am on Tuesday (December 31) in the Bowland Fold area of Lancaster. The 13-year-old, whose surname has not been disclosed, has links to the Lancaster, Morecambe and Wigan areas, according to Lancashire Police.

A photo of the teenager has been issued on social media today (January 3) alongside an urgent appeal to find him. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with white writing on and black trainers.

Officers say he may also be wearing dark green or black trousers. Matthew is described as being 5ft tall, of a slim build with dirty blonde hair that is long on top and brown eyes.

Anyone with information or immediate sightings is urged to call 999.

In a post on Facebook, a Lancaster Area Police spokesperson said: “Have you seen Matthew, who is missing? Matthew, 13, was last seen at around 6:30am on 31st December 2024 in the Bowland Fold area of Lancaster.

“Matthew was last seen wearing a black hoodie with white writing on and black trainers. He may be wearing dark green or black trousers.

“Since Matthew was reported as missing to us enquiries have been ongoing offline, but we are now asking for your help. Matthew is 5ft tall, of a slim build with dirty blonde hair that is long on top and brown eyes.

“He has links to Lancaster, Morecambe and Wigan. If you see Matthew, phone 999.”
