Coronation Street legend exit ‘sealed’ after 42 years in heartbreaking twist

Coronation Street’s Kevin Webster is set to be diagnosed with testicular cancer in upcoming scenes as actor Michael Le Vell takes on the huge issue-based storyline.

Next week, Debbie Webster (Sue Delvaney) calls in at No.13 and finds Kevin visibly stressed as he explains that he’s found a lump.

A shocked Debbie urges Kevin to share his worries about his lump with Abi Webster (Sally Carmen) and when Kevin finds a tearful Abi in the memorial garden for her late son Seb Franklin, he realises that now is not the time to tell her his worrying news.

Unaware of what Kevin’s going through, Abi tells Kevin that little Alfie Franklin has a cold so she is going to spend the day at home with him.

Meanwhile, Kevin visits Dr Gaddas who sends him for further tests. Kevin opens up to Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) about his cancer worries before he returns home to find Abi asleep on the sofa with Alfie.

After taking Alfie upstairs, Debbie lets herself in and Abi wakes up to find Alfie gone. Abbie accuses Debbie of taking Alfie and when Debbie tries to leave, Abi defends her overreaction.

In the commotion, Kevin tells Abi that he has found a lump and may have testicular cancer, leaving Abi in a state of shock.

According to Gambling.com, soap legend Michael, who made his debut in 1983, is 11/10 to leave Coronation Street this year.

Recently speaking about the new storyline, producer Kate Brooks said: “As we go into the New Year, Kevin will discover that he’s got testicular cancer, which causes a massive strain on his relationship.

“Abi is a really strong character, but she’s going through her own turmoil at the same time. We want to tell this really truthfully.

“We’ve been working closely with Macmillan to make sure that we tell the story right.” Kate added that the story will be “about their relationship” and “testing that relationship”. Fans will have to wait and see if Kevin’s diagnosis sees him leave the cobbles after over four decades.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX
