Dagenham man captures moment Mercedes crashes into parked car and tree – and just drives off

A Dagenham man has captured the shocking moment a Mercedes-Benz driver smashed into a parked car and a tree, before nonchalantly driving off as if nothing had happened. The incident was captured on CCTV outside Colin Aylward’s East London home.

Mr Aylward, 52, didn’t wake up due to the noise of the collision but checked his cameras after noticing the parked car unusually close to his driveway. He said: “The parked car has been taken now. It wasn’t my car. It didn’t wake me up. I found out [about the crash] because they were parked near to my drive.”

He continued: “That blue estate usually parks well away, but this time it was close to my dropped kerb. I thought, ‘That’s unusual’. I was flicking through the camera footage and saw that the car jumped backwards at one point.”

Mr Aylward noted that white paint from the Mercedes was spotted on a nearby tree and kerb

After noticing the car’s position had changed overnight, he reviewed the footage and discovered the collision.

Despite the parked car suffering ‘a little bit’ of damage, Mr Aylward believes the Mercedes likely sustained more damage, evidenced by white paint on a nearby tree and kerb. However, despite reporting the incident to the police, Mr Aylward claims they were “not interested”, adding that this is often the case when he reports crimes in what he describes as an ‘increasingly dangerous and run-down’ Dagenham.

It isn’t the first time Mr Aylward has spotted something untoward on his CCTV cameras, having previously captured footage of a taxi driver ‘defecating’ on his street in September 2024, according to Yahoo News.
