TV personality and fitness enthusiast Davina McCall has shared her go-to breakfast. It’s budget-friendly, easy to whip up and brimming with health benefits.
The 57-year-old recently had a health scare involving a brain tumour. The Masked Singer judge and mum-of-three bravely faced surgery to remove a colloid cyst, which is a rare type of benign tumour filled with fluid, from her brain.
Always candid about her health and fitness journey, Davina regularly updates her followers on Instagram about her lifestyle choices. In a chat with Hello Magazine, she revealed some simple dietary habits that help her stay in top form, thanks to delicious yet nutritious meals, reports the Mirror.
For breakfast, the former face of Big Brother opts for something that sets her up for the day. She said: “I would probably have granola and milk for breakfast. But sometimes, I’ll do a crumpet if I’m naughty.”
Granola, a staple in the cereal aisle of supermarkets, is available in various pre-flavoured options. However, many choose to begin with a plain base and add their own mix of fruits and yoghurts for a sweet and healthy start to their morning.

Those looking to try Davina’s breakfast choice can find granola at very reasonable prices. Asda, for instance, offers a basic granola box starting at just £1.90, which amounts to a mere 38p per serving.
The high protein cereal helps to suppress the ‘hunger hormone’ ghrelin and instead promotes another hormone – leptin. This creates a feeling of fullness, which can help resist the urge to snack between meals.
Keeping this mindset can aid in maintaining or improving weight loss over time. Granola is also a good source of fibre, contributing to a feeling of fullness after eating.
However, people are warned not to overindulge in this seemingly healthy choice. Pre-packaged options can sometimes be high in sugars or potentially become higher in calories and saturated fats with added toppings, so it’s best to thoroughly check the labels and opt for a sugar-free, plain make. Or, for the healthiest option, you could make your own granola at home using nuts, oats and fresh fruit.

Davina also shared that her hearty granola bowl is paired with a classic morning drink that gets an added health boost too. The busy mum accompanies her morning meal with a cup of collagen-enhanced tea.
In a chat with Get The Gloss, she shared that she prefers bovine collagen, found in different forms to help make taking the supplement easy. An unflavoured powder can be mixed into drinks and is available from stores like Holland and Barrett.
Healthline experts have noted that this specific type of protein, primarily sourced from cows, offers numerous health benefits. It’s linked with arthritis relief and prevention of bone loss.
It also enhances the types of collagen that constitute your skin, suggesting that bovine collagen may be particularly beneficial for reducing wrinkles, promoting elasticity, and increasing skin moisture. Bovine collagen is safe and easy to incorporate into your diet – but always seek medical advice if unsure.
